The darker side of mortals…

I was wondering about Amitabh’s decision to become the brand ambassador of Gujarat. Of course it’s his personal decision. But then a thought crossed my mind that did he ever think about the Gujarat riots before taking this job? Did he see Parzania/Firaaq at least?

Sadly this piece of news had opened a Pandora’s Box in my cerebrum. Gory scenes of riots began to play in front of my eyes. People getting brutally ripped open with swords, truckloads of corpses, females of any age getting assaulted, their most tender parts being cut with naked knives.

One of the hooligans gave an interview on TV. He said that he had cut opened a pregnant woman’s womb and then destroyed the embryo. Then he swung his blood-thirsty-sword triumphantly in the air and felt like Maharana Pratap. He did it because he was ordered to kill.

Were all these people instructed that how they had to kill or how to rape? No.
They were just asked to kill and assault people.
So the Qs arises that why did they kill those people in the most unrighteous manner?
Who taught them or provoked them to commit the most sinful crimes in human history?
Worse, why they didn’t have even an iota of remorse for their heinous actions?

I think we all have demons inside us. The darker side. Unconsciously we all want to commit such crimes. We all have the outlines of such repulsive behavior coded deep down in our psyche. But then why only few people exhibit it? It can not be a sudden transition. Yes it is a gradual process. Your parents, teachers, education, society, upbringing and personal experiences can nourish your either side. When these hooligans with stronger dark side were given power and freedom, they turned into full fledged monsters. They bathed in blood without even flinching.

This incident will have a snowball effect. Because even years of torture and negligence can create a monster. What do you think will happen to the orphaned and homeless kids? Their homes were destroyed in front of them. For them love will cease to act. Anger and loathe will become their constant companion. They’ll believe in their darker side only. And one day they’ll bathe in blood too.
